What sets us apart

Six reasons teams choose Openkoda

What a PAS buyer gets here that closed, quote-only cores don't offer.

  • Launch in weeks, not quarters

Configure a product, price it, wire the workflow and go live while a traditional core programme is still in discovery.

Core Travel Insurance went from implementation to production in eight weeks, portals and client migration included.

  • Published, flat pricing

Business and Enterprise are flat annual contracts, with no per-seat, per-policy or percentage-of-premium fees, and every number published on the pricing page.

In a market where almost everyone says “contact sales”, you know the number up front.

  • Build products in plain English

Describe a product or a change and the AI drafts it - coverages, pricing, rules and workflow - for you to review and approve. Safely versioned, fully audited.

Closed cloud suites are only now adding natural-language configuration, and none of them lets you run the result in your own environment. Openkoda does, with a human approving every change.

  • Configuration, not code

Products, pricing, underwriting, workflows, forms, documents, dashboards, roles and navigation are all business-user configuration.

Legacy suites lean on proprietary languages - Guidewire's Gosu, Salesforce's Apex - and services projects to change. Openkoda doesn't.

  • Ask your data anything - privately

Get reports and dashboards by asking in plain English, no query language required.

Every question runs with strict tenant isolation at the data layer, so answers stay private to your organization.

  • One platform, many models

P&C and Life, and operating models from MGA and carrier to broker, TPA and reinsurer - on a single multi-tenant platform.

SkyGuard runs long-term life cover and specialty aviation P&C on one Openkoda instance, each line with its own workflows and underwriting.

How it works

Building insurance software on Openkoda

From a running platform to a live, branded product - configured by your team, extended by developers only where you want it, and deployed wherever you need it.

  1. 1

    Start from a working PAS

We spin up your Managed Cloud instance, or install On-Premise in your own environment. You begin with policy, underwriting, claims, billing and reporting already running, not an empty project.

  2. 2

    Model your products

Configure coverages, rating, underwriting rules and workflow in the platform, often by describing the change in plain English and approving what the AI drafts.

  3. 3

    Customize the experience

Brand the portals, forms, dashboards, roles and navigation to your process. Developers extend the Core in code only where you genuinely need something bespoke.

  4. 4

    Integrate your ecosystem

Connect finance, partner and data systems through REST APIs, webhooks and the MCP server, so Openkoda fits the stack you already run.

  5. 5

    Deploy and evolve

Go live on Openkoda Managed Cloud or on-premise, then keep changing products the same way - versioned and audited, with in-force policies untouched.

The platform, as shipped

Real screens from the running product

Rating, underwriting, claims, billing and bordereaux all ship with the platform and are yours to configure. See the full feature list.

FAQ

Questions PAS buyers ask us

What does “a platform you actually own” mean in practice?
Your products, configuration and data are yours throughout and export cleanly at any time. The platform runs on a standard stack with no proprietary language to learn, and the On-Premise plan puts the whole thing inside your own environment and region.
Managed Cloud or on-premise, and who controls upgrades?
Your choice. Business and Enterprise run on Openkoda Managed Cloud, where we run secure, scalable hosting and apply upgrades for you. On-Premise deploys in your own infrastructure, and you control the upgrade cadence.
Do we need a technical team?
No. Products, pricing, rules, workflows, forms and documents are configured by business users, with AI assistance. Developers extend the platform only where you want something genuinely bespoke, such as a custom integration.
How is the AI kept under control?
The AI drafts; a person approves. Every proposed change shows a before-and-after for review, nothing is applied until you accept it, and every applied change is versioned and recorded in the audit trail. Reporting AI runs with strict tenant isolation at the data layer, so answers stay private to your organization.
How long does an implementation take?
Weeks to a few months, depending on scope. Core Travel Insurance went from implementation to production in eight weeks, portals and migration included; SkyGuard put life and aviation P&C on one platform in about three months.
Can we extend and customize the system?
Yes. Products, pricing, rules, workflows, forms, documents, dashboards, roles and navigation are configuration, so your team changes them without a release. Beyond configuration, developers extend the platform in code wherever you need something the configuration does not cover, and your extensions stay yours.
Can we add custom integrations?
Yes. Openkoda is API-first, with REST endpoints, a submission API on every form, webhooks and an MCP server, plus built-in connections for payments, email, data enrichment and AI. Custom integrations with your finance, partner and data systems are built for your stack, on Enterprise as part of the plan and on any plan as a scoped piece of work.
Can we add bespoke features?
Yes. Anything the platform does not do out of the box can be built as a bespoke extension, from a specialised rating model or an unusual claims process to a partner-facing portal. Our team scopes it with you, builds it on the same versioned, audited foundations, and it runs inside your Openkoda instance alongside everything else.
What does it cost to start?
Business and Enterprise are flat annual contracts with unlimited users, and On-Premise is scoped to your operation; every published number is on the pricing page. Openkoda AI is a separate monthly subscription. Most engagements begin with a live demo and a free proof-of-concept scoping with a ballpark estimate, before you sign anything.
