Capabilities

Customizable platform suited to carrier needs

Retire a legacy core without a big-bang migration

Run Openkoda alongside what you already have and move one line of business at a time. Modernizing stops being a multi-year programme with a single terrifying cutover, and starts being a series of changes you can actually reverse.

Bring underwriting, policy and claims onto one record

Risk, cover, servicing and loss data sit in the same system rather than in three that reconcile overnight. Exposure, loss ratio and reserve movements read from live data, so the numbers your board sees are the numbers your teams are working from.

Keep your own actuarial and regulatory logic

Rating rules, referral triggers and reporting are configured to your standards, not bent to fit a vendor's assumptions. Where you need something specific, our team extends the platform for you, and you can build it and still stay on the platform.

What's included

Everything you need in one carrier platform

Product & rating

Configure any line and its pricing - coverages, factors, tiers, territory. New products and rate revisions ship as configuration changes, so a filing deadline doesn't turn into a release schedule.

Underwriting

Automated rules clear the straightforward business; a referral workbench gives underwriters the exposure, history and documents they need in one screen. Decisions and their reasoning stay on the record.

Policy administration

Quote, bind, endorse, renew, cancel - the full lifecycle in one system, with integration capabilities for third-party services like rating bureaus, agency management systems and document providers.

Claims

First notice through settlement: intake, reserving, payments, recovery. Claims workflows route by severity and line, and claims management sits on the same data model as policy, so exposure is never a lookup.

Executive dashboards

Loss ratio, written premium, pipeline and reserve development across the whole book. Business intelligence built on live operational data rather than a warehouse extract that's already a week old.

Security & audit

Role-based access down to field level, with a complete audit trail of every quote, bind, payment and override. Built for the questions regulators and internal audit actually ask.

Who it's for

P&C Insurance Software Built for Your Team

Built for carriers and insurers modernizing a fragmented or aging core. Underwriting, policy servicing, claims and finance work from one record instead of systems that reconcile overnight, and you can move one line of business at a time rather than all at once.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Can one platform cover our whole lifecycle?
Yes - product, rating, underwriting, policy and claims management and billing run on a single platform with one data model. Nothing is reconciled between systems overnight, so an endorsement, a payment and a claim all reference the same policy record in real time.
How much needs developers?
Products, pricing, underwriting rules and workflows are configuration, so business teams handle most day-to-day change without a ticket. Developers come in when you want something the configuration layer doesn't reach, and on Enterprise our team extends the platform to fit your products rather than asking you to bend them.
Is it enterprise-grade?
Multi-tenant isolation, role-based access down to field level and a full audit trail come as standard. Every quote, bind, payment and override is recorded with who did it and under which rule, which is the level of evidence regulators and internal audit tend to ask for.
Can we run many brands or entities on one platform?
Yes. Strict data isolation means several brands, legal entities or territories can share one deployment while keeping their books, users and configuration separate. Shared insurance products can be inherited and then varied per entity rather than rebuilt.
How is it deployed, and do we own it?
Openkoda Managed Cloud or On-Premise in your own environment - your choice, and you can move between them. Either way there is no lock-in: your configuration, your book and your data stay yours and export cleanly, so a change in our pricing or roadmap never strands your core operations.
Does it handle personal and commercial lines?
Yes. The data model is configurable rather than fixed to a product template, so personal auto, home, SME package and specialty P&C lines can coexist in one deployment. Complexity lives in the configuration, not in a separate installation per line.
How does it integrate with our existing systems?
Through documented APIs and event hooks - rating bureaus, data providers, payment processors, document generation, reinsurance and finance. Integrations sit alongside policy management and claims processing rather than being bolted on, and the source is available if a partner needs something bespoke.
Where does it fit against a full core replacement?
Both paths work. Some insurers start with one line or one function - claims processing, or a new product - and expand once it's proven; others replace the legacy stack outright. Enabling insurers to sequence the migration themselves is usually what makes the business case survive contact with a board.
