Openkoda Platform is an open-source software published on GitHub repository, and is available under the free MIT open-source license.
Benefits of Openkoda platform as an open-source software
You are free to copy, use, modify, and redistribute the source code of the Openkoda platform, as well as any applications built using it. This allows you to develop and operate your software products based on Openkoda technology without relying on third-party vendors or commercial agreements.
While you have the option to use Openkoda Partners to develop your applications and Openkoda Cloud to host them in our managed cloud service, you remain the sole owner of your application code. This means you have complete control over its use and distribution, with no lock-ins or restrictions.
Low-code open-source vs. proprietary low-code
Openkoda Platform is a truly open-source low-code platform, specifically:
- You can build, extend and run your applications as you want.
- You don’t need to ask anyone to migrate your full application code and run it anywhere.
- You don’t need any proprietary tools or services to build and run your applications.
- You retain full control over your source code which is built with generally available technologies like Java and JavaScript, with no proprietary languages used which would have constrained your development and maintenance in the long-term.
- Own your code. Run it anywhere.
The key features of the MIT License are:

Specifically, Openkoda modules available in Openkoda Marketplace are available according to license agreements and commercial conditions set by their vendors.
